I have 22 years of leadership and management experience in K-12 schools, education consultancy, social and emotional learning (SEL) and teacher coaching. I have a Master's in International Education Development from Teachers College, Columbia University and a post graduate diploma in Business Studies from the London School of Economics and Political Science. I am a certified Compassionate Systems Master Practitioners from The Center for Systems Awareness at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)

At Teachers College for my masters project I researched the Compassionate Systems Framework (CSF). It is rooted in systems thinking, child development theories and wisdom traditions and views the UN sustainability goals as central to organizations goals. It is a new synthesis of head, heart, and hand;  an approach to teaching and learning based on the spiritual importance of interconnectedness that develops in students the inherent and composite systemic intelligence that has been ignored by the industrial-age model of education.

Strategy, planning and management have been central to my work. As the trustee of a K-10 school in India, I implemented the strategic change from the state curricula of a low income private school to the International Baccalaureate (IB) and International General Certificate Examination (IGCSE) so that we could focus on the development of the whole child. Additionally we introduced contemplative practices such as meditation. I was involved in operationalizing the instructional and administrative changes and lead the team on the contemplative practices. I have also developed systems for onboarding of staff and teachers, organized events and managed all aspects of program planning and implementation to align with the values of the school.

My classes and consulting experience at the Center for Public Research and Leadership (CPRL), Columbia Law School and the Columbia Design Studio, primed me to design continuous learning and improvement workshops and institutes for leaders of nonprofits and education organizations. Further I co-advised on the implementation of a district-wide social and emotional learning program and consulted a national foundation to establish community ties. Additionally, I have supported in consulting nonprofits and a charter school to create a theory of action, measurement framework, and implementation plan.

The opportunity to work at the Refugee Youth Summer Academy in New York sealed my decision to take the Compassionate Systems approach forward in all my work and use my experience in management, administration and leadership to create systems that can give  opportunities for social, emotional and ecological equity. With that vision in mind I have recently launched my project called Compassionate Learning Communities (CLC), that will facilitate the introduction and growth of Compassionate Systems in organizations and communities of people.
