Shirley has taught in BC since 2003 and has worked in a variety of school- and union-based leadership roles. She is a registered clinical counsellor and holds a PhD in Health Sciences wherein she researched factors that support teachers’ resilience and well-being.

I have 22 years of leadership and management experience in K-12 schools, education consultancy, social and emotional learning (SEL) and teacher coaching. I have a Master's in International Education Development from Teachers College, Columbia University and a post graduate diploma in Business Studies from the London School of Economics and Political Science. I am a certified Compassionate Systems Master Practitioners from The Center for Systems Awareness at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)
